| TSC News - 2009 12/15/09 -- THE BIG ANNIVERSARY/HOLIDAY PARTY at SWEET AROMA!!!!!!! --- We had a wonderful time! James and I hosted Marilyn, Sheila, Larry, Orland and Gene!!! It would have been wonderful to see more members there, but... no. We did have our incredibly loyal listener members, Sara & Peter and Melissa & Mike as well as Laurel and a few others. Barbara and her staff put on a spectacular all-you-can-eat spread for $5... you missed a swell time! :) We also announced that we have an opportunity to record our compilation CD at a discounted price. Those who were at the Anniversary night will be able to participate! More details will follow here as we get 'em!! (See what happens when you show up!!?!!?) :) :) :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/11/09 -- Well - it was me and James at The Celtic Cup for our Friday Circle... we did have some listeners... bless them! ;) Circle Members! These get togethers are for YOU! If you don't take advantage, we won't be able to keep them going! Let's see you once in a while, huh??? :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/10/09 -- WE'RE BACK ON IN DECEMBER at The Celtic Cup!!! Chris had a cancellation, so we WILL hold our normal Circle on the 2nd Friday of the month -- THIS Friday, 6 to 9pm. Come on out and enjoy each other... AND -- Chris says he'll even feed us! :) Yeah! ;) See you Friday!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/03/09 - ANNOUNCEMENT! We will no longer be playing at SNAFU's on the last Monday of the month. We never were a good fit, and we think we've given it a good go -- but we will be looking for a new venue in Manchester to replace that date. I will try to make it Monday night, but may have to switch the day per the new place. Stay tuned! In the meantime --- don't forget us at The Viola Valley Country Store and Restaurant tomorrow, Friday, December 4th. We start at 5:30!!! 1/2 hour earlier than usual -- so come out for an early evening! And LARRY!!!!! We can't find your # or email and---if you're coming---please bring the bigger sound system. We could really use it! :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/17/09 - Yes - falling down on the job! Actually - I had to switch computers and couldn't get Sitebuilder installed. But now all is well! :) We had a wonderful night at The Celtic Cup on Friday the 13th! Thanks to those who showed up (great to see familiar faces!!!!). We'll be taking a break in December at The Cup - lots of parties and such, but we'll be back there again in January! I hope you'll remember to come out and bring all your friends!!!! :) :) :) Tuesday, the 17th was great at Sweet Aroma! 5 songwriters, and an audience to listen! :) What could be better? OUR DECEMBER CIRCLE at SWEET AROMA!!!!! We will be having our Christmas Holiday/3rd Anniversary bash! Barbara will provide a light buffet for a set price (approx $5), and we'll have Trivia! Prizes! And Lots Of FUN! Don't miss it!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/26/09 - James and I held down the fort at SNAFU's this month... I'm still not convinced this is a place for us. It's such a big Karaoke place that people don't seem to get the fact that we do all our own material. They'd rather hear Seger or Dylan... :| And since the membership isn't even showing up, we may have to re-think our 4th place to play. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I'd like to keep it in Manchester if possible. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/20/09 - Yes, I've been a little lax at the updates! :( But we've been having fun! :) Our night at The Celtic Cup was really fun! We had someone come in and grace us with Indian Flute Music! (Check out the pictures toward the bottom of the page!) And our night at Sweet Aroma was wonderful! Now under new management, Sweet Aroma is back! We had a really great crowd of listeners, and 5 songwriters in the house! :) If you haven't been to Sweet Aroma in a while, come on back and try us again!!!! :) :) We had lots of fun on Tuesday, and we hope to see more of you there next time! Judy & Harold could not have been nicer, there was a nice crowd of people to listen, and Trapper and Bard came out to play and support the TSC. Not to mention the star of the night - Shawn!!! After all, it's her town! :) James and I could not have been happier with our first night there! We hope to see more of you make the trip and come out to perform... it's well worth it! :) :) :) Next Circle: at The Celtic Cup on Friday, 10/09. For all of you out there who kept complaining to us that Tullahoma was too far to go... we've got a place in Manchester now!!!! We had GREAT players, and WONDERFUL listeners! :) So good to see familiar faces in the crowd! Thanks for making the night so fun!!! James Bell will be playing on Friday, Sept. 18th, at the Warren County Fair starting at 4pm. :) :) :) If you're out and about, please do stop by to support our fellow songwriter!!! And FYI - because I had no previous notice about the Fall Back Festival this year, by the time I saw the billboard and realized it was THIS WEEKEND, it was too late to scramble to get us into it. Oh well. We'll have to make due with our Circles!!! :) :) :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/11/09 - We had a marvolous time at The Celtic Cup! Where were you???? This was a brand new venue for the Songwriter's Circle and, with the exception of me, James and Wally to play and Shawn to listen -- no Circle members came for support. We are trying to hold these weekly so you will have a place to play. But if you do not support the effort -- I'm not sure how much longer we can keep it going. Please come out on Circle nights to support your local songwriters and your own songwriting craft!!! Ok. Enough venting from me... :) Now..... A little farther out from Jo Jo's Java, in Viola, TN is another brand new venue -- The Viola Valley Country Store and Restaurant. Our hosts, Judy & Harold Cook are very excited to see us come out to hold our Circle at their establishment! This is a quaint little country store, with it's very own stage! Being sandwiched in-between Manchester and McMinnville, this could be a GREAT place for songwriters to meet!!! So PLEASE make an effort to come out for the FIRST FRIDAY NIGHT in OCTOBER! It's a beautiful drive! The food is down home wonderful! And they couldn't be nicer!!! Sooooo... 6 to 8pm on Friday, October 2nd!!!!! Be there! :) Thanks! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 08/22/09 - It is official! We will no longer be able to hold our Circle at Jo Jo's Java. Carrie has closed her establishment. We'd like to thank her for all the great nights we had there, and wish her all the best of luck. We will be looking for another venue to hold a 4th Circle the 1st week of the month... We will keep you posted here as to our progress in that regard! :) In the meantime, we have our three Circles going strong -- so please keep coming to those! You know we love to see you and to listen to your great songs!!!! Thanks to everyone who particiates in our Circles... we are here for you! But we have a great time too!!!! Next Circle date is this coming Thursday, September 27th at the new place -- SNAFU's in Manchester! Rumor has it that the management would like to change our night already to a Monday or Tuesday... I haven't gotten the official word on that yet... but I will let you know the status HERE as soon as I find anything out for sure! In the meantime - thanks so much to all of you who have supported the TSC at Jo Jo's... we really have a great time there, and have been entertained by some GREAT singer/songwriters! And thanks to Carrie, too, for all she's done to host us!!! Wally Freeborn came with his "G" harp! :) Actually, he had his whole suitcase of harps, but because I was the only one there to sing for three hours (hint hint) he had to rely mainly on G. :) (I swear I didn't realize I wrote so much in that key!!!!!) With two other members who came for support, we held the first Friday night at The Cup. We really need to do better than this.... Let's get the word out that we've moved to the 2nd Friday!!!!!! I was "independent" alright... I was the only one there to play at Jo Jo's on Saturday! :( But I carried on! Don't let's loose this great venue people! :) See you on the first Saturday of August!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/29/09 - Denise and Chris could not be nicer... or more understanding! Monday nights seem too hard to get anyone out, so they've asked us to play a Friday night! SO..... We will be moving our Celtic Cup night to the SECOND FRIDAY of every month. Next date is July 10th!!! Come on out and play!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/16/09 - Well, I'm not sure where everyone's gone at Sweet Aroma... but we had some really good music to play! Tho' we were pretty much playing for ourselves and the staff, we had a good time! Ms. Marilyn brought a guitar and actually played her songs!!!! WoW! :) We LOVE when she does that!!!!!! Next Circle will be on Monday, June 29th at the Celtic Cup in Tullahoma. 5-7pm. They've made a cool ad for us and everything (see the new logo above!) We will probably be changing our day at "The Cup" to the 2nd Friday of every month, 6pm til... This will be a great opportunity for you to play your songs to a new crowd. Come on out and join the fun! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06/06/09 - We had a blast at Jo Jo's on Saturday!!! Great players, lots of listeners... what fun!!!! If you haven't been out to Carrie's place yet, do yourself a favor and stop on by. A great place to have a favorite beverage and sit back and listen to the music!!! :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 05/25/09 - James and I held court at The Celtic Cup for Memorial day, joined by Wally Freeborn on harp! Tho' a small crowd, we had a lot of fun! The Cup wants us to change to a Friday night, thinking there would be a larger audience for us -- if we do make the switch, we'll let you know here! Next Circle is at Jo Jo's on Saturday, June 6th! So. I'm a little late with the updates. I've been a little busy! :) 04/25/09 - James Bell and I represented the TSC and sang for the Go Green Tullahoma sponsored Earth Day event held at the Tullahoma Business Center. James and I were the only musical entertainment and sang for 4 hours straight! :) (I know that's not a big deal for you ol' pro's out there, but it's been a while since I've done that -- can you say horsey?) ;) But we had a nice turn out and we had a great time! (See the nice thank you piece from the paper in the TSC Press below...) 04/27/09 - We had our very first Circle at The Celtic Cup on this LAST MONDAY of April... we were well received and they look forward to seeing us back again on Memorial Day, May 25th! So bring your patriotic songs and come join us at the Cup!!!! It's a beautiful new place to play! 5-7pm, on Memorial Day Monday... Don't miss it!!! Of course before that happens, our next Circle will be on THIRD TUESDAY of the month, May 19th, at Sweet Aroma, 6-8pm. I know it's very confusing to remember such a crazy schedule, but that's why I keep reminding you all the time!!! :) :) :) So see you Tuesday, the 19th at 6PM!!!! :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 04/21/09 - We had a great time at Sweet Aroma on our Tuesday night Circle... made some new friends and saw some familiar faces in the audience! I have a friend that has a really nice acoustic guitar for sale. It does have built in Fishman electronics. Sounds great and is in almost new condition. He has it posted
at the moment on Craig’s List (link included below). I was wondering if you could forward this on to the other members to see if anyone is interested or might know
someone that is. He doesn’t have the time for it and usually uses his electric to play. I have included some photos and the link the Craig’s Listing. I am sure that he
would be willing to consider any reasonable offer.

Let's knock this year out with a BANG! :) See you soon! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/12/10 - Our Celtic Cup Friday night was LOTS of fun, even tho' not too many people were there in the audience... but the players were out in force!!! :) Not only James, Shawn and myself, but Marilyn, Emily and Larry! (Welcome Home!) were there!!! We had a Blast! And Emily has now officially joined our ranks! Yeah!!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st Friday in November at Viola - I couldn't get a ride, so Shawn, James and Emily carried the night and had a great time! Thanks to Judy and Harold and the crew!! See you in December! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/29/10 - Yes - I know it's been awhile since I've posted... we'll blame it on the druthers... I'd druther be sleeping, which I don't think I've gotten but a few hours since mid-July... and who said sleep was overrated????? Not in MY book buddy! :) Tonight was a great night at The Brew in Manchester! Although it was a small showing :( I expected many more! :) Lots of ears to listen tho'. That was good! And some new Performers that came to sing some cover songs (but they knew that they would need to know all the names of the SONGWRITERS, so they had them! Yeah!!! Also - we had a (and I HOPE) prospective new member, Emily Roberts --- great original songs, very nice voice, very nice playing.... I really hope we will be seeing her again and that she will consider joining our ranks! Hint Hint! ;0) Happy Trick or Treat - - - - Beeeee careful! I also want to mention that we played a new place in Shelbyville - The Parkway Cafe! It was wonderful!!! It's a little cafeteria-type place, but they have the most wonderful set up in a room in the back -- almost concert-style, with their own equipment. We can just show up and play! And people who are eating the buffet-style meals in the front will bring their plates with them to the back and sit and listen to the music!!! What could be better???? We had the best time!!! We're going to start to play there every 3rd Friday of the month and see how it goes! I hope you'll check it out and see how great it is! :) :) :) And YaHayyyyyy.... Sheila Shavers has completed her CD project!!!! Her CD's are available for sale NOW!!!! GET ONE! They're fabulous!!!! I believe they are $15, and well worth it! You can get one directly from Sheila herself at a Circle or go to the New Covenant Christian Bookstore -- great Christmas gift!!!!!!!!! (hint, hint!!!) ;) ;) Congratulations, Sheila!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/21/10 - Tuesday night at Sweet Aroma was an intimate little gathering, but we had a grand time! Ms. Marilyn, Ms. Sheila and I were there, along with our new soon to be member, Mr. Tom, who accompanies everyone so well, as well as plays his own very nice songs!!!! We had a great night! Looking forward to October at SA! A few of us went to Jammin' at Hippie Jacks Music Festival 9/23-9/26. Watch for pics and some captions soon! :) We had a great time - and the TSC was talked up! :) During that same weekend, the TSC was hosted by James Bell at The Brew... I understand it went well --- we'll get the low down from James first hand and report more! :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09/10/10 - Our Circle night at The Celtic Cup was very enjoyable -- although we missed our Mr. James. :( But we carried on, and had a great night. Marilyn, Shawn and I carried the night, with a welcome assist from Wally!!! It was great to see you again!!!!! We had a nice crowd and it was a fun night!!! We will be taking a break in October at the Cup, but will be resuming there again in November. Our next Circle will be at Sweet Aroma on Tuesday, September 21st. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We had to cancel our Friday night in Viola -- too many folks having to work late and poor Shawn had another death in the family... we couldn't make it happen, and our wonderful hosts, Judy and Harold were so understanding and agreed to the last minute cancellation. But we will make it up to them in October!!!!! Thanks Viola! We love ya!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get Well Wishes going out to our friend Shawn Smith -- hope you're feeling stronger and up to playing that guitar of yours soon!!!! :) 08/27/10 - The Brew was a fun night -- good players, good listeners, good food - what more can we ask for?? :) Lots of laughs and good ideas for future Circles... Come on out and participate in our next ones coming up! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- August Catch Up! - Sorry you guys i've been slack about the updates here... I'm trying to get my focus back and get back in gear... :) So I'll try to update to now and be better going forward! :) We did have a busy and really fun August so far!!!! Our night at The Viola Country Store and Restaurant was wonderful and a lot of fun. Miss Judy even got a chance to sit down for a change and listen! :) She said she really enjoyed it! :) :) :) We'll be back there September 3rd. The second Friday at Celtic Cup was LOTS of fun! We had a really receptive crowd and strong players, so it was a hoot of a night! We look forward to being back on Sept. 10th. Sweet Aroma was wonderful as we got to meet a hopefully potential new member! Miss Sheila Shaver brought her friend Tom Fuss with her to play along... turns out he's also a singer/songwriter himself and very good indeed. We'd LOVE to have you join us, Tom! ;) And hope to see you back again! Our next circle: Brew's Alley on Friday, Aug. 27th. We did it! We made it! We were at Brew's Alley! :) Rebecca was entirely the gracious hostess and made us feel extra specially welcome, and we had a wonderful time! The place is beautiful, lots of seating, both for listening and then in the back for the yackers (is that a hint? wink wink). There's food to be had if you're hungry, lots of yummy coffee drinks and cold drinks and some cookie-type snacks... so come on out and see us there the LAST FRIDAY of every month!!!!! We've got our 4th Circle night!!!!!! :) :) :) And remember -- we have a special "in" at THE BREW - Shawn Smith, who is one of us, is the music director --- if you are interested in booking Brew's Alley as a solo performer, give her a call. Kathy would like to express her deep appreciation to James Bell, Shawn Smith, Marilyn Harris, Audrey Brown, Jerry Woodward and others who were so helpful in keeping the Circles going while she was out ill herself and while her mother was in and out of the hospital and at home in hospice care... a songwriter uses words... but sometimes words can not convey how much the friendship and understanding means at this difficult time... Thanks is not enough - but Thank You! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 07/04/10 - HAPPY 4th of JULY!!! THE BREW is open for business! James Bell did a spectacular job of opening the stage of Brew's Alley for them! Rebecca and her staff (and lots of friends and relatives) :) have worked tirelessly to make sure the place was ready -- and it was!!! It'll only get better from here on out. The TSC will be performing there for the first time on the last Friday night of July, which is the 30th! Everyone should make the effort to come out and support this wonderful new venue. AND -- it's the PERFECT place to showcase your own work -- work up a show, contact Shawn Smith, grab a date and fill the room with your friends and neighbors... it is really going to be THE place in Manchester to hear good music!!!!!!! :) :) :) Rebecca!!! Tremendous job! Kudos, I say!!! And to Shawn and Audrey and all who helped to make it here so far. You said you're still working on it -- but It's already brilliant! :) And if you happen to have tickets to a show at the Manchester Arts Center right across the street --- what a perfect place to have a cup of cappuccino before or after the show! ;) Bravo!
